Nokia will launch Nokia N800 internet tablet early next year. N800 internet tablet will be WiMAX capable, powered by Intel Baxter Peak WiMAX chip. Not only that, N800 will also have a built-in GPS module.
There’s slight possibility that Nokia will also launch GPS-only N800 model, meaning customers from areas that have no or very limited WiMAX ISP will have an option to buy WiMAX-less N800. This info is not confirmed.
There’s a report that N800 LCD screen is unfortunately not designed for reading in the bright sun-light, therefore may limit its versatility as an in-car GPS. However, in my opinion, this weakness can be easily overcome by carefully choosing a strategic placement of the unit in the car dashboard.
