Sony is well-known for its premium good-looking hi performance laptop computers. “Sony” and “Budget” are very unlikely to be put on the same sentence. Is the line “cheap Sony laptop” rings a bell in your brain? Mine is not. Even I don’t dare to put the title of this post as “Cheap Sony VAIO under $900″. Instead I picked the word “inexpensive”, because “cheap” is so not Sony 
That’s why finding a new Sony VAIO laptop under $900 is worth a posting in a blog 
Laptop Mag has reviewed this laptop computer, so it’s best to put their review here for you to judge:
Inside, the components are more impressive for the price. You get a 1.5-GHz Core 2 Duo processor with 667-MHz FSB and 2MB cache, as well as 1GB of DDR2 RAM, which provides plenty of processing muscle for everyday use. We had zero problems multitasking when we were watching a DVD, booting up Paint Shop Pro, browsing the Internet, and doing some light word processing. We were also pleased with the 160GB, 5,400-rpm SATA drive, which should have plenty of space for all your documents and multimedia.
PCMark05 and 3DMark03 scores were well below average for a mainstream machine at 3,080 and 1,459 respectively, but when compared with our recent roundup of sub-$800 mainstream notebooks, it had the fastest times for both tests, as well as the longest battery life at 2 hours and 19 minutes on a DVD rundown test and 3:41 during a productivity test.
So it’s definitely worth it. Something else you need to know, this laptop is not so portable, the screen is 15.4-inch and weigh 6.2-pound, but the design is so classy. Not a thing to be ashamed of. Sony laptop again is a good choice for design-conscious consumers.

Everun, the name implied that this versatile ultra portable and ultra mobile notebook copmuter will run ever and ever and ever. Somehow it reminds me of Eveready batteries. 
And indeed it has battery life of 7 hours (with standard battery) or 12 hours (with enhanced battery). The enhanced battery will add about 0.22 lbs (100 g) more weight. Everun, latest ultra portable notebook from Raon (makers of the Vega).
